What to expect during treatment
Our Moxi appointments typically last about an hour from start to finish. When you arrive, we’ll begin by cleansing your skin and applying a topical numbing cream. This stays on for about 30 minutes to ensure your comfort throughout the treatment.
Once the skin is numb, we’ll remove the cream, cleanse again, and give you protective eyewear. Then, your provider will perform the Moxi laser treatment—most patients describe it as a warm, prickly sensation that’s very tolerable and quick.
After your treatment, we’ll apply cooling gauze to help soothe and calm the skin. You may experience redness and a sandpaper-like texture over the next few days—this is completely normal and part of the process.
Before you head out, we’ll send you home with our post-treatment Moxi skincare to support healing and maximize your glow. You’ll begin to see brighter, more even skin in the days following your treatment, with continued improvement as your skin renews itself.

Why Patients Choose Self Skin Studio for Moxi
At Self Skin Studio, Moxi is approached with a customized plan based on your skin tone, concerns, and long-term goals. We do not believe in treating every face the same way. Instead, we look closely at what is driving your pigment, texture, dullness, or early signs of aging and build a treatment plan designed to improve the skin clearly and gradually over time.
Our approach is focused on healthy, radiant skin. The goal is to improve tone, texture, and brightness for skin that looks clearer and more even.

Moxi FAQs
What does Moxi treat?
Moxi treats uneven skin tone, sun damage, fine lines, enlarged pores, and rough texture by delivering gentle, fractionated laser energy that boosts collagen production. It’s ideal for preventative skincare, melasma management, and overall skin rejuvenation, leaving your skin glowy, brighter, and smoother.
Will Moxi laser hurt?
Depending on the level of treatment provided, most patients find it reasonably comfortable. You may feel a prickly heat sensation during your treatment, but we use a topical numbing cream and fan to help.
What areas do you treat with Moxi laser?
Moxi is safe for all skin types and most areas! Our most common treatment areas are the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.
Is Moxi safe for melasma?
Yes, Moxi is a great option for melasma because it delivers gentle, fractionated laser energy that improves skin tone and texture without excessive heat, which can sometimes worsen pigmentation. We have found that when combined with medical-grade skincare and sun protection, Moxi can help manage melasma safely and effectively.
Can I stack Moxi with BBL?
Yes, Moxi and BBL can be stacked in the same treatment session for enhanced results. BBL targets redness, pigmentation, and sun damage, while Moxi improves skin texture, tone, and collagen production. Together, they create a powerful combination for achieving brighter, smoother, and more even skin.
What is the downtime with Moxi laser?
Downtime is minimal. You can expect some redness after treatment, along with small dark microdots called MENDs in the treated area. Between days 3 and 5, these dots darken, feel rough, and then slough off as fresh skin comes through.
When will I see my results from Moxi?
Many patients notice brighter, smoother skin within about a week, with continued improvement over the following weeks as the skin renews itself.
Can I get Moxi while pregnant?
Moxi should not be performed if you are pregnant.
What should I do after my Moxi treatment?
After Moxi, avoid direct sun exposure, excessive heat, and irritating skincare products for the first several days unless your provider tells you otherwise. Use SPF daily and follow the post-treatment skincare instructions we review with you before you leave.
